      <image:caption>A beautiful and tranquil Yoga Studio based in the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells. We are a collective of highly trained and experienced yoga teachers all with different skill sets and so much passion for sharing yoga. As yoga practice has become more and more popular over the last 20 years in the UK, in many cases, it has become more and more about the pure physical asanas (postures) and less and less about the mind and the breath.  In essence, it has become just another exercise class like HIT, boxercise or body pump.  Here at the Yoga House we really believe in yoga as a holistic practice for body and mind.   While we embrace all the physically challenging aspects of posture practice we place equal emphasis on looking after the whole being - body and mind.  The Yoga House Founder Julia says: "I like to teach yoga the way I practice yoga.  For me, working with the breath as a link between the body and the mind is an essential part of yoga practice.  I like people to leave The Yoga House feeling they have worked hard but that they are leaving feeling more relaxed, calm and centred than when they arrived." The new buzz word is 'mindfulness' but it is really just another word to describe what yogis have been practicing for centuries.  Practicing postures is stage one of yoga. Practicing postures, working with the breath to steady the mind is what yoga is really about.  That is the philosophy we follow at The Yoga House. In the modern world our minds are full of excess 'stuff'.  We can't stop thinking about all the things we need to do and places we need to be and yoga is a way of taking a break from the stress of day to day life while creating a little harmony in the body both physically and mentally. As the ancient sage Patanjali says: "Yogas citta vrtti nirodhah" - Yoga is the restraint of the mind stuff. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District.       <image:caption>My passion for yoga began many years ago and it continues to keep me sane and grounded in a busy world full of stress and challenges. I completed the Yoga Campus teacher training in 2009 (certified by The British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance) and I have been sharing my practice ever since. For me it is essential to carry on training to keep inspired and up to date. I have been lucky enough to work with many amazing teachers; Internationally renowned  Ashtanga teacher Richard Freeman, Shiva Rea, Katrina Repka, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli (whom I completed my pregnancy yoga teacher training with) Sarah Litten and Jo Manual (whom i completed my teaching yoga to children with). My Main Teacher is Liz Lark whose vast knowledge and dynamic approach has shaped my own practise and my teaching style. Most recently I have worked with Shiva Rea, completing two of her week long intensives, her energy, enthusiasm and warmth is truly inspiring. My approach is friendly and down to earth with creative, fun and fresh ideas about how to practice. Yoga has so much to offer, from increasing your flexibility and strength to gaining a deeper feeling of peace and calm in your life.</image:caption>

She has been teaching yoga for almost 20 years, developing from a British Wheel of Yoga Hatha Teacher Trainingfoundation, to Astanga Vinyasa Yoga; practising in mid 90’s under Derek Ireland. Her inspiration comes from the Astanga Vinyasa tradition and other Hatha yoga practises. Liz adapts yoga postures for each individual in order to ‘chisel' into the form and helps sculpt and free each unique body.  A member of Yoga Alliance USA and British Wheel of Yoga, she is also a board member for The Life Centre Teachers Training Course, and runs retreats and workshops nationally and internationally. Her Thai Yoga Massage training in Chieng Mei has informed her hands- on adjustments; which Liz teaches along with Creative Sequencing, for the London Teachers Training Course www.yogacampus.com, on which she’s a board member.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Louise trained with Yogacampus, one of the UK’s top teacher-training centres known for its non-dogmatic approach to yoga.  She is fascinated by the nervous system and its effect on the way we move and feel.  Her continuous study into movement and respiration science has led her towards a more embodied practice, where the focus is on sensation rather than ‘making shapes’.  Retaining the deep wisdom and philosophy of yoga, Louise’s classes are an exploration of sensation, movement, and stillness.  Louise has an inquiry-based style of teaching, enabling students to gain a better understanding of how their bodies move and feel so that they can find their own stability, strength and ‘ideal alignment’ within a movement or asana.  She is a trained breathwork instructor with OxygenAdvantage®, a functional breathwork training programme designed to improve breathing efficiency, energy, and mental focus; this is rooted in the ancient yogic principle that are bodies become more efficient and balanced when we learn to breath less, not more.  Louise’s classes help students to learn healthy breathing patterns, which are meant to be taken off the mat into everyday life to help generate a feeling of ‘calm alertness’.       <image:caption>Sonja is qualified under the triyoga 350 hour programme, trained by Anna Ashby and Tony Watson. Her classes are alignment based and anatomically focused, exploring traditional prāṇāyāma techniques which guide people through their own unique experience of mind-body relationship. The yoga seed was sewn when she practiced pre and post natal yoga with Lolly Stirk, discovering the pure joy of movement and breath which improved physical function and well being. Following that she mostly stayed within the school of Iyengar teachings. Sonja is also trained in Restorative Yoga under Anna Ashby (triyoga) and offers a practice which is introspective and soothing. Sonja strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for people in her classes.</image:caption>
